You’re black. You’re not even a nigger. You’re an African.
Please don’t let them kill me. I… I promise I won’t be Tutsi anymore.
During the 1990s, some of the worst atrocities in the history of mankind took place in the country of Rwanda–and in an era of high-speed communication and round the clock news, the events went almost unnoticed by the rest of the world. In only three months, one million people were brutally murdered. In the face of these unspeakable actions, inspired by his love for his family, an ordinary man summons extraordinary courage to save the lives of over a thousand helpless refugees, by granting them shelter in the hotel he manages.
This movie is actually based on real events that happened during the Rwandan Genocide. Paul Rusesabagina was a hotel manager who housed over a thousand Tutsi refugees during their struggle against the Hutu militia in Rwanda. Paul actually saved the lives of a lot of people. He even risked his life just to save others. At that time it was everyone for themselves , but he decided on help others instead of himself. He did everything he could and he succeeded. The story is remarkable and very inspiring.
Coming on to the movie then , ” BRILLIANT , ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT ” .
The movie takes you through the journey of the Genocide and how Paul helped others and how others refused to help him . It is an emotional journey , how even the UN fails to help them . Rwanda was torn apart , and so were the people . There are some scenes in the movie that will question your thinking as a human being . You will understand how useless some people are and how they refuse to help others even when they are capable of doing so!
There will be no rescue, no intervention for us. We can only save ourselves. Many of you know influential people abroad, you must call these people. You must tell them what will happen to us… say goodbye. But when you say goodbye, say it as if you are reaching through the phone and holding their hand. Let them know that if they let go of that hand, you will die. We must shame them into sending help.
Don Cheadle has done an amazing role . He is absolutely brilliant . The direction of the movie and how the movie is put together is amazing and the way they show the plight the people are in , that is even better. The movie will win your hearts !
SHOULD YOU WATCH IT : YES !!!
